The Melton corridor made that need obvious. Between the 2021 Census and today, suburbs like Aintree, Cobblebank, Strathtulloh and Thornhill Park have gone from paddock to street grid, and Plumpton counted 79 residents in 2021 against a precinct plan for close to thirty thousand. Tens of thousands of new homes were handed over with an alarm pre-wire nobody commissioned and a doorbell that does not record. Meanwhile the older stock in Melton and Melton South, some of it dating from the 1917 township and the 1964 Melton Views estate, had never had a data cable run through it. Gurjit Singh runs Visionova Security and holds the Victorian Private Security Individual Licence, number Z70-718-31S, endorsed as a Security Adviser and a Security Equipment Installer. We work to the relevant Australian standards rather than around them: AS/NZS 2201.1 for intruder alarm systems, the AS/CA S009 wiring rules and ACMA cabler registration for cabling connected to the telecommunications network, and AS/NZS 3000 for anything involving fixed 240 volt wiring, which is an electrician's work and we say so. CCTV installations are designed with the Surveillance Devices Act 1999 in mind, because camera placement in Victoria is a legal question as well as a technical one.
